At last year’s AMUG, athletic wear manufacturer cheap under armour shoes won the Advanced Concepts Technical Competition using the UA Architech, a collection of shoes that featured a 3D-printed midsole. This year, Director of Design & Manufacturing Innovation at Under Armour Alan Guyan gave the crowd a sneak peek on the company’s next design in the series, the Futurist.
The Futurist includes a center-mounted quarter zipper, a compression system having a rear opening rather than laces and, obviously, 3D-printed midsoles. These TPU insoles are 3D-printed using selective laser sintering on the company’s lab in Baltimore using a material created by Lehmann&Voss&Co. Intended to provide support for weightlifting and CrossFit training, the lattice structure was designed to bounce energy back as weight is pressed upon the shoe.
Guyan explained at AMUG how the concept behind the Futurist is it combines the last, present and way forward for the company. “The idea is the fact our team is a bit under pressure,” Guyan said. “You’ll check this out wrap along with the shoe and on the inside of the shoe you’ll visit a seamless heel cut out. That’s kind of our present. We actually mold the foot of the under armour outlet sydney. And, naturally, our future is 3D printing.”
“The feedback continues to be really tremendous. The important thing that I’ve heard consistently through the athletes is, ‘I can train longer; my joints don’t hurt.’ It truly solves an issue 83dexlpky we were really seeking to range from a CrossFit shoe into a weightlifting shoe and merge those two together. Through that process, the athletes happen to be stating that ‘It’s amazing because I don’t have to worry about changing shoes, but also my body feels differently.’”
At $300, the shoe series is Under Armour’s most costly currently, it also represents the company’s largest batch of under armour outlet melbourne with 3D-printed parts currently. With every shoe series, Under Armour has quadrupled production, starting with 96 pairs for your original Architech, accompanied by 410 for the next 3D-printed shoe series. The corporation will manufacture the Futurist inside a batch of any little over 2,000 pairs, with sales beginning March 30 and with other sales occurring all through the year, based on Guyan.
